COOKIES
Cookie policy
The short version: there are no advertising or tracking cookies, and visitor analytics uses no cookies. What remains is one technical cookie and one choice stored in your browser.
Updated 26 August 2026
Based on section 205 of the Finnish Act on Electronic Communications Services (917/2014) and the GDPR.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. Consent is generally required for storing information on a device, except where storage is necessary to provide a service you requested. The same applies to other storage, including localStorage.
2. What this site stores
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
_mikapeltomaa_fi_session | Cookie | Session and CSRF protection against forged requests. | Session; removed when the browser closes | Necessary |
mp.consent.v1 | localStorage | Stores your consent choice so it is not requested on every page. | Until you clear browser data or change the choice | Necessary |
Both are necessary and do not require consent. Saving the consent choice is necessary so that your decision can be respected.
3. What is not used
- No advertising or marketing cookies.
- No third-party cookies, embeds or tracking pixels.
- No Google Analytics or other external analytics service.
- No social-media tracking plugins.
- No profiling or cross-site identification.
4. Analytics without cookies
Visitor counting works without cookies or a persistent identifier. It records the page path, referring site's domain, device type and a daily salted hash used to distinguish unique visitors within one day. The IP address is not stored. Article share-button clicks and the chosen method are also recorded.
Nothing is stored on your device for analytics, but analytics is still not used without your permission.

5. Managing your choice
You can change your choice below at any time. The change takes effect immediately.
Browser signals and settings
If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, analytics is disabled automatically even if you previously consented. You may also block or remove cookies and browser storage in your browser settings, though blocking necessary cookies may affect operation.
6. Changes
If new cookies or third-party content are introduced, this page will be updated and consent requested again.
